Residents are kindly asked to be considerate of others needs when parking in the estate.  Currently, cars are being parked on junctions, bends and green areas.  Parking on junctions and bend impairs other driver’s vision and acts as a serious safety hazard for motorists and pedestrians, especially small children.

Parking on green areas damages public spaces, causing potholes which can injure children playing in these areas, and is an obstruction to grass cutting and green area maintenance.

Residents are also asked to ensure that guests are utilising visitor spaces provided around the estate when visiting.

Many thanks to all those who took part in the recent Clean-up Day which took place on Easter Monday.  A great numbers of residents from the estate turned up to lend a hand and likewise a great amount of rubbish was collected.  On the day a number of shrubs were planted throughout the estate and flower beds were weeded and maintained.

Over the summer period residents are encouraged to take ownership of the small green areas immediately outside and close to their own house.  Should you have any suggestions for development of the green areas then please e-mail greenfieldswaterford@live.com

After much debate and delay it looks like the Old Tramore Road will be upgraded with construction beginning in the next few months.  Commenting to Cllr. Seamus Ryan, Fergus Galvin Director of Corporate Affairs and Transportation Waterford City Council said “It has been our strategic objective for some years now to progressively upgrade of all of the city’s radial access routes to a reasonable standard. We started a couple of years ago with the Old Kilmeaden Road, the Williamstown Road and we are currently working on the main Tramore Road. It would be our intention to include the Kilbarry Road as part of overall plan later this year”.

He adds, “We have developed plans for an upgrade of the Old Tramore Road from the Outer Ring back to Avondale and the scheme will include a continuous footpath, public lighting along the full length and a realignment of sections of the road to improve sight-lines and safety. We are planning to commence construction work on the scheme this Spring. The job has gone to tender, I have a financial allocation from the Dept. of Transport and I would hope to sign contracts very shortly with a view to commencing on site probably around late April (to coincide with the re-opening of the main Tramore Road)”.

Mr. Galvin concludes saying, “We would also intend providing for additional bus stops on the route. The only issue  is a completion date but we are looking at 9 – 10 month construction period which would bring us up to early 2011.”

The R675 Tramore Road from the entrance of Kingfisher Leisure Centre to the Ballindud Roundabout on the Outer Ring Road will be temporarily closed from 9.30am on Wednesday 13^th January 2010 until 7.00pm Friday 23rd April 2010 inclusive, to facilitate the Tramore Road Improvement Scheme.

Ballindud Roundabout –  R 710 Outer Ring Road – Six Cross Roads Roundabout – L 5021 Kilbarry Road – R680 Cork Road – Cork Road Roundabout – R709 Inner Ring Road.

Southbound

R709 Inner Ring Road – Cork Road Roundabout – R680 Cork Road – L 5021 Kilbarry Road – Six Cross Roads Roundabout – R 710 Outer Ring Road – Ballindud Roundabout.

Local access will be maintained and diversion signs will be in place.
